If you need help using your disk to restore your Mac, Apple has a helpful page in its Support section. When following these instructions we got a persistent error message when restoring the boot image to the USB partition, "Restore Failure Could not restore — Invalid argument". However it appears that this has no effect on the restore, and the USB is usable afterwards.
Yes, you can ignore this error. We've seen it too on some Macs, but as you say, it still works just fine. I tried booting in with my usb but it doesn't boot. It just doesn't start the installer process. Start holding it before you see the apple logo, and keep holding until you see the list of bootable drives. From that menu you can select the USB drive to boot from. Sign Up. That's great! I really need help ASAP. I then ran the command above, selecting the active partition as the destination. Also, I have also tried the root level of the USB drive.
Nothing has worked. I know OS X can do this, what am I missing? Pegasus82 macrumors newbie. Jan 15, 3 0. Just restart your Mac and hold "Option" while booting. Quad5Ny said:. Nov 1, 20 6 Singapore.
How to quickly make a Mac OS X bootable USB on Windows

I bought a bunch of "industrial temperature rated" SLC thumb drives for an embedded application that lose their firmware upon repeated power cycling. Of course I was using it to capture the behavior of my device on power cycle. I bricked several sticks this way, and have had others fail spontaneously forgetting what size their flash was. My on point is that you don't know for sure what will fry a thumb drive, and not all drives are created equally. H2SO4 macrumors Nov 4, 4, 3, Jul 24, 1, 39 United States. H2SO4 said:. How to Create Bootable USB Installer for Mac OSX on Windows 10?
On retail media, there are usually editions from Windows 7 Starter to Windows 7 Ultimate. They will all be the same bitness. If you do not delete this, the installer will still work fine. If they have that capability, Boot Camp Assistant usually will create this drive for you, without the need for you to do the above steps.
There are also some extraneous steps listed above, but it should still work. Cheers, this is my last gasp attempt. I cannot get any version of Bootcamp to work. Probably due to the data listed against my 1,1 from Apple kb page.

I've been using W7 in Parallels but as some games are quite taxing I want to fire on all cylinders if you understand. I am not sure exactly what I am missing, but the entire procedure should be straight forward. What version of OS X do you have? Where are you getting stuck? From the article you referenced, Windows 7 is not "supported" but that doesn't mean it will not work. What Windows 7 SKU do you have, and what is the bitness of it? Last edited: Dec 24, Jan 7, 1 0.
